Three steps. All human.
Our team performs reevaluations every month, and an official reauthentication once every six months. We work hard to ensure every artist with the seal is credible and all human. Full evidence requirements are listed in the application form.

06Volunteers
Run by the people it protects
LofAC depends on volunteers to keep its mission alive. Each volunteer is rigorously trained to identify AI interference in artworks by following strict procedures. Every verification is reviewed by a team of volunteers first, and also run through detection algorithms for a second, more certain pass.
An ideal volunteer has an interest in art, AI ethics, and social advocacy. Requirements and responsibilities for each role are listed in the application.

Before you apply
Is my art safe if I apply?
LofAC does not sell any of your data to third-party providers or allow AI models to train on your art. We take your security very seriously.
How much does authentication cost?
Applying for a seal and obtaining one is completely free.
How do you define AI art?
Any AI-generated or modified output that poses as an artistic creation. This extends to tracing AI, but not to using it as a reference — though we discourage the latter, since you'd be tracing a stolen product.
Is the Seal permanent?
No. We continuously check every artist's account after verification. Each account is scanned monthly, and every 6 months the artist goes through a mandatory reevaluation where 3 selected artworks go through the full authentication process again.
How do you check if an artwork is AI generated?
We require specific types of proof that art was made by hand and not generated. A team of trained volunteers analyzes this proof and produces a report. As a secondary check, we run the art through detection algorithms that look for code markers signifying AI interference.
What kind of art do you check?
Traditional and digital art, physical art (sculpture, pottery, fashion, crocheted products, and more), and animation.
What if I get rejected?
An artist may be rejected for two reasons: proof of AI-generated art on their account, or outspoken hateful ideology. To foster a safe and credible community, LofAC won't certify anyone in either category. If rejected, you may reapply once your account is clean of both.
What if someone gets the seal and uses AI later on?
We reevaluate artists' accounts monthly. If we suspect AI usage, we reach out and ask for proof of that artwork. Without proper authentication evidence, the artist immediately loses the seal and cannot reapply.
What do I do with the seal?
You get a license to use the seal however you wish — as a watermark, in your posts, and as a line in your bio. You're required to include your authentication code somewhere in your bio, so customers can check you against our registry.
How do authentication codes work?
So no one is tricked by a falsified seal, authenticated artists receive a unique code they must include in their bio. Paste it into our registry to see when they were verified and whether they've passed their monthly checks. Ignore anyone using the seal without this code in their bio.
What kind of volunteers are checking my art?
Every volunteer completes a three-week training on recognizing AI in art, then passes a detection exam before working. Each account is reviewed by multiple volunteers to ensure a thorough investigation.
